Pilot Project Funding

The Pilot Projects Core funds pilot projects that are likely to produce new collaborations, publications, and grants, considering both the project and the applicant, across all career stages and backgrounds.

What pilot grants offer

Pilot grants of 1 or 2 years include funding up to $25,000 per year, together with access to samples from the PARC Addiction Biobank, generated from heterogeneous stock (HS) rats genetically and phenotypically characterized for addiction-like behaviors toward cocaine, opioids, alcohol, or polydrug use. Available samples include brain, blood, urine, feces, and an extensive range of peripheral tissues amenable to molecular, cellular, and multi-omic approaches.

Pilot projects integrate with the center's core services: Addiction Biobank samples, Behavioral Phenotyping Core characterization of addiction-like behavior, and Computational Core analytical pipelines for genomic sequencing and multi-omic analysis. The goal is for funded activities, if successful, to become self-sustaining, strategically enhancing the center's impact and engaging the broader scientific community.

Pilot funds may not be used to supplement or prolong ongoing research, or as bridge funding.
